Farringdon, United Kingdom Public Digital Full time

Salary: £60-80k, dependent on experience

Location: Hybrid working, London, United Kingdom

Do you work in the field of digital, in the broadest sense? We’re looking for both people who consider themselves specialists (such as lead service designers, product managers, or software developers) or generalists (playing a role in making change and delivery happen, such as policy makers, strategists or digital team managers).

At Public Digital, we’ll ask you to apply those skills as consultants, but a style of consultancy grounded in lived experience: your lived experience, and the lived experiences of the wider Public Digital team.

Day-to-day, you’ll be an advisor and coach, you’ll facilitate, convene, write and present. If you have specialist skills, you’ll apply those skills as an practitioner-coach who’s partnered with a client team - showing by doing, to help the team learn from the skills and experience you have.

We think Public Digital offers a unique opportunity - allowing those with digital skills and experience to amplify their impact. We think it’s also a unique way to learn, working closely, day-to-day, in teams with rich and broad experience different to your own.

You’ll be asked to be part of multidisciplinary, multi-functional consulting teams, helping our varied clients with a diverse set of challenges and opportunities. From helping them deliver impactful digital services, researching complex new domains, or making tangible progress with large-scale organisational reform and culture change.

About us

We are Public Digital, a digital transformation consultancy headquartered in London. We help global institutions that matter thrive in the internet era. We apply the culture, processes, business models and technologies of the internet era to help teams build and run excellent services.

Public Digital is growing fast and we are growing our UK & Europe team, bringing in a Principal to work in engagements with our commercial clients and expand our influence in the sector. Our headcount grew by 55% in 2023, and we have developed lasting relationships in retail, media, telecoms and education sectors. From our beginnings as a digital strategy focused consultancy, we are now looking to grow our capability and capacity for clients in the private and commercial sectors.

Role overview

We are looking for an experienced candidate to run our engagements and join our teams working in the commercial sector. Clients have been an important part of our work for many years. We’ve worked across various industries (such as retail, telecoms, finance and more) helping leaders to define digital strategy, to turn around major programmes, and implement modern operating models and practices for more effective delivery and organisational transformation.

We are looking for someone to deliver consultancy projects with clients across our portfolio. You must have a strong understanding of how to enable change in large complex organisations, including the private sector, and how to implement and grow modern, user-centred and responsive ways of working in teams.

What you’ll do with us:

  • Work on client engagements with accountability for day-to-day delivery and team leadership.
  • Develop strong, proactive and highly trusted relationships with leaders and their teams.
  • Act as an advisor and coach to clients, helping them to shape transformation plans and deliver measurable value.
  • Facilitate delivery to a high standard and ensure we’re helping clients achieve their desired outcomes.
  • Apply your expertise and experience to help organisations improve ways of working and deliver better experiences for their users.
  • Mobilise teams for new client engagements and look after the health of our team and performance, including financial management.
  • Support partners and directors to seek further opportunities for us to provide value to clients, and proactively generate new leads.
  • Contribute to the life and growth of Public Digital as a values-led business.
  • Help to build a positive working environment in your engagement teams and the business as a whole.

Requirements

We’re looking for:

  • First-hand experience working in-house on service delivery, digital, or transformation initiatives in the UK private sector.
  • Experience leading consulting projects is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in digital transformation, especially within the UK context.
  • Ability to lead and empower teams to deliver excellent work from start to finish.
  • Experience of working in complex or challenging stakeholder environments, and being comfortable with ambiguity.
  • An understanding of how teams work and collaborate, the dynamics of team delivery and how this is nurtured and developed.
  • Pragmatic and proactive in managing engagements and building relationships, demonstrating excellent organisation and delivery management skills.
  • Self-starter capable of scoping and leading projects independently.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to deliver projects in person and work across different time zones.

Important Note: Although this ad lists out what we look for in candidates, it is likely that we are missing other skills that you may have which could make you a great fit for our business. Research shows that female candidates tend to be less likely to apply to roles where they don’t check all the boxes over other genders. What we are therefore saying is if you feel you tick the majority of the boxes we have listed above, we would welcome an application from you as it never hurts to take a chance and apply.

Benefits

What’s in it for you:

  • Opportunity to grow and progress rapidly within an engaged, supportive environment
  • Be entrepreneurial and contribute to the growth and success of Public Digital
  • Focus on enabling people to deliver high-impact work with leading institutions around the world
  • Focus on learning, development and progression
  • Ability to build and develop your expertise and profile through publishing blog posts, presenting at events and sharing knowledge and experience
  • Be empowered to do your best job
  • Home and remote working, flexibility in how you deliver work
  • Buddy system and prioritised mental health
  • Generous holiday allowance of 30 days, plus an additional office closure over the Christmas period.
  • Private healthcare cover.
  • Additional Flexible benefits.
