March, United Kingdom Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic, resilient, charismatic clinical lead for our Fens Service. The service offers an exceptional model, providing trauma focussed treatment for patients in a maximum secure forensic setting. The Fens is one of two services in the country offering such a service. We operate in a separate wing within HMP Whitemoor offering 70 beds: 23 transition beds and 47 treatment beds.

The prisoners we work with often experience highly complex and chronic mental health challenges, with longstanding histories of trauma, neglect and rejection and are frequently hard to engage with. We have a rare opportunity to work with our patients over a 3 + year period allowing us to develop close clinical relationships with the service users.

This role offers a fantastic development opportunity for someone looking to retain clinical skills and enhance their management and leadership skills. We are looking for someone to strategically lead the clinical team and work in close partnership with the HMPPS staff. The relationship between the service and HMPPS is critical to the effective and safe delivery of treatment.

We are looking for someone with:

An interest in compassionately leading a team in what can be a very challenging environment. An interest in innovation and developing the existing treatment pathway. A proven track record of delivering clinical therapy to a complex secure forensic population.

Main duties of the job

The core purpose of this role is to establish and ensure the delivery of the clinical Offender Personality Disorder Pathway within the service. You will be working clinically to deliver individual and group therapy, providing clinical and managerial supervision to the clinical team. A significant aspect of your role will be working with our partner providers to ensure the safe and effective delivery of clinical care. You will be accountable for the delivery of the contract as agreed and managed by both NHSE and HMPPS commissioners.

As the Clinical Lead, there will be ample support available to you. You will join a senior (regional, national) supervision group, have regular contact with our Director of Psychological Services and other senior leaders within the OPD Pathway. You will also have access to training and development opportunities as appropriate. The team have an impressive CPD budget and frequently undertake training for the whole team as well as development opportunities for individuals. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in/lead on research programmes and publications utilising the services close links with Derby University and the Trust's close links with Cambridge University.

This role will afford you the option of working flexibly where appropriate, given the demands of the role and needs of the team.
