An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Orthopaedic team of nurses, medical staff and allied health professionals working within Ashill Ward/ Norfolk and Norwich Orthopaedic Centre (NaNOC).
NaNOC has a 21 bedded inpatient ward area and also a Same Day Admissions Unit which supports a dressing and clinical review clinic 3 days a week.
This is an exciting and progressive directorate which is continuously adapting to meet and enhance the care provided to our patients.
We want all our staff to achieve a balance between work and personal life and understand how important flexible working can be. We currently use a preference rostering system which allows our colleagues to have a say in their shift patterns.

Main duties of the job
As post holder you would be responsible for promoting and implementing practice conducive to the development of high-quality patient care by providing professional, clinical and managerial leadership. To take charge of the Ward/Department in the absence of the Ward/Departmental Sister/Charge Nurse and provide support and guidance to all staff.
As a Registered Nurse at NNUH you should be highly motivated, adaptable and ambitious. We have a highly supportive management team aided by dedicated Clinical Educator to help support you in your development and delivery of the highest standards of nursing care to our elective patients within the department.
The service relies on nurses to take the lead on PRE and POST OPERATIVE inpatient centred care, maintaining high level of ward experience, discharge planning, whilst also driving the flow of the patients and ensuring national targets are met as a team.
The expansion of the Trauma & Orthopaedic services at NNUH will lead to new and exciting projects as well as brilliant advancement, career development, and progression opportunities. Whether you want to specialist routes like becoming an Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner or down a managerial path the opportunity will be open to you

Job responsibilities
Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and work within limits of competence. Assist the Ward/ Department manager in maintaining standards of nursing practice. Carry out and advise/ supervise junior staff in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluating of nursing care. Carry out daily personal care of patients. To take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the Ward/ Department Sister/ Charge Nurse. To ensure the patient administration systems PAS are updated to ensure real time data collection and confidentiality. To ensure the effective use of information technology for the benefit of patient care in accordance with the Trusts Cyber Code of Conduct. To ensure the confidentiality of information (written, verbal, electronic) is maintained, whilst being aware of the Freedom of Information Act. To co-ordinate and monitor the progress of patients within the plan of care and to promptly and effectively communicate relevant changes in patient status to the multi-disciplinary team. Effectively communicate complex, sensitive or contentious information to the multi-disciplinary team gaining their co-operation. To ensure that all staff adhere to Trust policies and the principles of their professional body. To manage complaints in accordance with the Trusts Complaints Procedure. To assist in the development of patient information liaising with PALS as necessary. Use leadership skills to create an environment that is safe and supportive to ensure effective teamwork and a motivated, efficient workforce.Please see the attached job description for full details.

Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register. Post registration qualification experience relevant to the clinical area.
