Job Summary
This role will be offered on an initial 6 month term, with a view to possible extension.
The Woodworker is responsible for cutting paper and metal industrial honeycomb (and occasionally some wood too) to tight engineering specifications and tolerances, at the start of the process to build many of the composite-based parts and products we make for a range of customers within both the civil and defence aerospace industries, in full compliance to the Work Instruction and/or Standard Operating Procedure, and without compromise to their own, and colleagues, safety.
They will be fully supported by their Team Leader (TL), who will enable their training, coaching and quickly respond to them if they find any off-standard / quality issues. They will be expected to actively identify safety concerns (Hazard identification), make problems immediately known to their TL (Pull the Andon), and raise improvement ideas to solve problems (Kaizen). They will be part of a team that will collectively work on creating a "Great Place To Work" through a culture of continuous improvement, safe working and open dialogue.
PLEASE NOTE - This position requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC) due to the nature and responsibilities of the work carried out. In order for us to obtain an SC you usually need to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years to current date (but we do assess each case individually)
Job Responsibilities

Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate having completed a time-served apprenticeship (4 year) as either a carpenter, a cabinet maker, or a kitchen fitter, and be capable of using a range of industrial tools such as saws, sanders, etc.
We need you to be a real team player, with an eye for detail, able to work to very high standards of quality, and within strict deadlines. You'll be personable, punctual, reliable, and willing & able to work on shifts when required (for which a shift allowance will be payable)
You will also need to be physically fit and capable of undertaking this sort of work in a fast-paced industrial environment
