This role supports and assists in the data collection of mandatory national datasets and specialty cancer audits, ensuring timely and accurate completion of the Somerset Cancer Registry.

This is a fixed term role for 12 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with the data collection for the National Cancer Audits
  • Support the Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) Coordinators with completion of key CWT datasets
  • Ensure compliance with the data collection for the National Cancer Outcomes and Services Dataset (COSD).
  • Support the data collection against the Best Practice Timed Pathways (BPTP) for all specialties where this is applicable.
  • Record and store accurate, timely and robust data on all Cancer patients and to influence existing data recording processes.
  • Monitor own training needs and work with line manager for personal development plan.
  • Report regularly to Line Management, Lead Cancer Clinician and Lead Cancer Manager on compliance / non-compliance of COSD/ National Audits.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs ‘C’ grade or above including English and Mathematics

Skills and Knowledge

  • Able to communicate with, and influence, staff in clinical and non-clinical roles to consultant and/or Senior Manager level
  • Ability to prioritize a complex workload
  • Ability to work autonomously; utilize discretion; influence clinical leaders to prevent breaches of the National Cancer Waiting Time targets.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently on own initiative or as part of a larger team of clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
  • Willing to work across sites
  • Able to produce a high level of data quality and understands its important in delivering high quality information
  • Flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the service
  • Able to confidently use standard Microsoft Office programmes
  • Able to confidently use Trust systems is desirable but not essential

Experience

  • Previous experience in an administrative role
  • Previous NHS experience an advantage but not essential
