Job overview

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an ambitious and proactive individual to further develop their career in a new leadership role within the Oxford Genetics Laboratories. The successful candidate will lead a team of Scientists and Technologists in the provision of highly specialised molecular, cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic investigations for a large and comprehensive Haemato-oncology service, receiving a range of referrals including acute leukaemias and lymphomas. They should be enthusiastic and self-motivated and will actively participate, through membership of the senior management team, in the strategic direction and development of the department.

Candidates must have HCPC registration in a relevant discipline and FRCPath part . They should also have leadership and management experience and proven expertise / competence in genetic testing in Haemato-oncology.

Main duties of the job

Main purpose of the post

To provide expert clinical/scientific reports, advice, opinions, judgements for a range of highly specialised genetic and genomic investigations and services to local, national and international service users To actively participate through membership of the Senior Management team in strategic direction and development of the Oxford Genetics Laboratories including service redesign, innovation and translational research To lead delivery of the Haemato-oncology service and be responsible for the clinical and scientific work, including quality, and managerial aspects of the work and the staff within the team(s) To contribute to the management of the department through active involvement in departmental committees and working groups and through experience gained in the wider context of participation in national and professional working groups

To exercise autonomy for their own work and that of the section/team and to employ all the competences of a State Registered Clinical Scientist
