Asset Risk Manager

Durham, United Kingdom Northumbrian Water Full time

About the role

We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Asset Intelligence team as our Asset Risk Manager.

Our Asset Intelligence team sits within our Asset Directorate and takes responsibility for feeding our business with asset data and insight. This allows us to understand our asset base so we can support strategic decision making for our water and wastewater assets.

Our Integrated Asset Management Risk framework is a central element of effective asset risk management in NWL. Therefore, this role will oversee implementation, effective delivery, and continuous improvement of the framework.

You will undertake asset risk reviews of crucial sites and their assets, measuring asset performance metrics against asset risk levels. In the event of discrepancies, you will conduct necessary investigations and take appropriate action to improve the framework.

A key element of this role is communication with senior leaders and stakeholders. The successful candidate will take responsibility for updating leadership teams with perspectives on asset risk to provide insights using leading and lagging indicators as required.

The regular updates provided to our stakeholders will ensure they have appropriate information from the Asset Management Risk Framework to enable effective decisions. This role will provide you with the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of stakeholders.

About you

The successful candidate will ensure the Asset Management Risk Framework is understood, whilst also highlighting awareness. This means you will have proven communication skills coupled with strong influencing skills to ensure the framework is appropriately embedded.

You will also use persuasive decision making in the event asset risks are outside risk appetite.

You will be the subject matter expert for technical risk assessments and developing risk strategies. This means you will demonstrate both analytical skills and decisiveness to develop appropriate solutions. In addition, you will enjoy driving and delivering change.

We’ve highlighted that this role has a focus on engaging with stakeholders and senior leadership teams. Therefore, you will be comfortable communicating and developing a network of stakeholders to support delivery.

As an organisation we’re committed to colleague development so we’re looking for someone who demonstrates a willingness to learn.

Whilst experience within the water industry would be beneficial, it is not essential as training will be provided to develop your knowledge.

Please note this role may require a DBS to be completed prior to employment

Here at Northumbrian Water/Essex & Suffolk Water, we embrace and value Diversity, Inclusion and Equity which means bringing your full self to work. We encourage and welcome all applications, as we believe and strive to be an equal opportunity employer committed in having a diverse community represented within all our teams, structures, and organisation. We have our colleague network groups, including Rainbow Support Network (LGBT+), REACH (Race, Ethnicity, and Cultural Heritage), WiSTEM (Women in STEM) and Thisability (disability and neurodiversity) networks too.
