**About the role**

We’ve an amazing new opportunity to become our new Risk Lead, reporting into the Integrated Controls Manager within our Asset Programme Management Office (PMO). We see this role is essential to realising our National Leader ambitions and we’re looking for a motivated risk management professional with experience in a fast-paced Programme Office (PMO) environment.

We’re looking for you to be leading a team of risk management professionals, as well as being a risk advisor to programme management and integrated programme controls experts, to assist in the successful delivery of outcomes through best practice risk management.

You’ll be developing, upholding, and communicating best practice risk management framework across the risk hierarchy to Northumbrian Water’s project, programme and portfolio management community, along with being our expert in specialist risk techniques, including Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis, and Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis.

We’re looking for you to be working with other project controls functions to achieve an integrated risk management approach driving efficiencies and maturity of practices, along with developing and interpreting risk management data to generate reports to provide insights and drive efficiencies.

You’ll be owning the risk management framework and uphold governance and assurance to enable informed decision making, ensuring appropriateness of the risk management systems or equivalent, to capture appropriate risk management information and escalation, along with being a trusted advisor for Asset Leadership Team (ALT)in relation to programme and portfolio risk management.

We’re looking for you to be creating the risk team culture and project community risk management culture, ensuring optimal performance, through effective mentoring and training, which includes responsibility for the coordination and strategic direction of routine / business as usual work activities.

**About you**

We’re looking for you to have proven experience of leading risk teams within a PMO or major project, along with proven experience of managing large projects, programmes within a PMO assurance environment, along with being an expert in best practice risk management industry standards. You’ll have proven knowledge of current recognised risk management standards and techniques.

We’re looking for you to have experience of operating within a fast-moving, dynamic environment, preferably a PMO or similar, along with proven stakeholder management skills to influence risk management embedment and improving risk maturity.

We’re looking for you to have proven experience of Microsoft packages, including MS SharePoint, Word, Excel, and tools used to support successful delivery of projects and programmes, along with a proven ability to manage / lead teams to meet timescales and drive continuous improvements.

You’ll have experience of ensuring risk is considered across other project controls, supporting the interface between cost and schedule functions, along with managing and responding to complex problems in a fast-paced environment, and proven problem-solving capability.

The Assets Directorate understand the health of our assets, invest wisely and maintain them to continue to provide safe, reliable and resilient services to our customers today and in the future.

We have launched an ambitious transformation programme to drive a real step change in how we deliver our capital projects. This requires the development of a high-performing PMO to provide a central controls function delivering impactful performance reporting, estimating, schedule and risk management, and governance. The overarching objective of the transformation programme is to transition from a hybrid PMO consisting of NWL staff and contractor support, to an entirely inhouse model.
