Role Overview:
As a Youth Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in reengaging young people who have been excluded from mainstream education, helping them thrive in a nurturing and supportive environment. You will support students' transition back into the community and education with a focus on a child-centred and trauma-informed approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in the classroom by supporting students both individually and in small groups.
  • Work closely with students to develop their social, emotional, and academic skills.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages student growth and engagement.
  • Implement tailored strategies to meet each student's unique needs, adapting plans to address challenges.
  • Collaborate with educators to ensure a reflective approach that meets the diverse needs of learners.
  • Promote students’ self-esteem and independence, helping them navigate their personal and educational journeys.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Passionate individuals with experience in education, care, or supporting vulnerable people.
  • Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or similar fields looking to gain hands-on SEMH experience.
  • Individuals with experience handling challenging behavior in educational settings are desirable, but this is not essential.
  • A commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young people with SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a dedicated team.
