Role Overview:
As a Youth Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in reengaging young people who have been excluded from mainstream education, helping them thrive in a nurturing and supportive environment. You will support students' transition back into the community and education with a focus on a child-centred and trauma-informed approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in the classroom by supporting students both individually and in small groups.
- Work closely with students to develop their social, emotional, and academic skills.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages student growth and engagement.
- Implement tailored strategies to meet each student's unique needs, adapting plans to address challenges.
- Collaborate with educators to ensure a reflective approach that meets the diverse needs of learners.
- Promote students’ self-esteem and independence, helping them navigate their personal and educational journeys.
What We’re Looking For:
- Passionate individuals with experience in education, care, or supporting vulnerable people.
- Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or similar fields looking to gain hands-on SEMH experience.
- Individuals with experience handling challenging behavior in educational settings are desirable, but this is not essential.
- A commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young people with SEMH needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a dedicated team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
