As a Recovery Worker you will be providing support and advice to people who are experiencing difficulties due to substance misuse and domestic abuse. You will have the opportunity to complete training in both areas, and strengthen your knowledge of these key strands of our service. You will have your own caseload, working as part of our team and alongside other social care services to identify how we can help. You will develop plans with your clients to help them get their lives back to where they want them to be.

We Are With You in Redcar and Cleveland is a free and confidential service for people affected by drugs and alcohol. With You in Redcar & Cleveland is part of the THRIVE partnership, an integrated substance use, domestic abuse and education/recovery support service. If you have experience in supporting people with a drug and/or alcohol problem, have a compassionate nature and a genuine desire to help others, you could be just what we're looking for.

You will work as part of a team with the aims of:

understanding your clients  keeping them safe creating a plan they can achieve with your support checking in with them and reviewing their progress keeping accurate and timely records of your contact with them working effectively with other social care providers e.g. Housing, to cover all aspects of their successful recovery  continuously learning and reflecting to improve the outcomes for your clients supporting your colleagues across the service to deliver excellent care

Required Skills

To be successful in this role, you will:

have attained ONC/NVQ level 3 or be willing to achieve this within 12 months have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field have knowledge of health and safety, including assessing client in high-risk situations  have knowledge of assessing risks and risk assessments be resilient under pressure and able to prioritise your work have good oral and written communication skills including IT skills have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues alike be able to work effectively in a team, supporting others when needed be adaptable, have excellent time management skills and be able to on your own initiative have strong interpersonal skills, displaying empathy with a non judgmental approach have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle be flexible with your working hours on occasion

You will also need to meet our safeguarding requirements of a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
