We are recruiting for a Restaurant Manager to join the team at Thurlestone Hotel & Spa.

Live in accommodation is available in our fully refurbished staff accommodation just a 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel.

Thurlestone Hotel & Spa is a luxury, family-owned, 4-star 65-bedroom hotel situated on the spectacular South Devon coast. The hotel includes the 2 AA Rosette Trevilder Restaurant, Voyage Spa, 9-hole golf course, The Village inn Pub as well as a range of sports facilities including tennis, squash and a seasonal kids club.

About the role

As a Restaurant Manager you will be responsible for the effective management, control and administration of the Restaurant department, to include all lounge areas, bar and function room with Duty Management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • To uphold the 4 AA star and 2 rosette standards in the Trevilder restaurant.
  • To be aware of the days business and ensure your department is prepared and organised.
  • To ensure complete and thorough menu knowledge of the food items for all service periods, i.e. Breakfast, Sunday Lunch, Afternoon Tea and Dinner. A good working relationship with the Head Chef is an example for the rest of the team.
  • Deal with issues that may arise and guest comments in line with company guidelines and in a professional and timely manner.
  • Focus on optimising sales and increase revenues through upselling.
  • To plan and manage staffing levels effectively in accordance with the hotel’s occupancy, events and budget.
  • To represent Leadership and ensure staff motivation, focusing on multi-skills development and total flexibility of staff and management. Consent training and developing your team is essential.
  • To carry out Duty Manager shifts when required to include sleep over shifts (at least one per week).
  • Actively participate in HR related matters of the department, recruitment, appearance, appraisals, training and development, succession plans and disciplinary procedures.
