The Vacancy

Pro currently has a vacancy for a Claims Technician to join the ELPL Sensitive Claims Team in Glasgow, Horsham or Liverpool.

Pro operates a hybrid working policy with regard to location and remote working and the post holder may be required to travel between these locations when necessary.

 

Purpose of Role

•            Reporting to the Claims Manager, the Claims Technician will manage a caseload of Employers Liability (“EL”) and Public Liability (PL”) claims, specifically sensitive claims to include but not limited to the following:-

•            Physical, emotional and sexual abuse (The majority of the work will be PL abuse claims).

•            Failure to Remove

•            Training and supervision will be provided but the successful role holder will be required to ensure:

•            All claims are managed in line with best practise and client requirements.

•            All diaries and post are actioned within the agreed SLAs to ensure all key milestone are achieved and claims are dealt with in a proactive manner.

•            Effective liaison  with solicitors, brokers and other stakeholders in a sensitive and appropriate manner.

•            Developing effective business relationships internally and externally.

•            Maintain accurate records for auditing and regulatory purposes.

•            Identifying potential fraud.

•            Proactively support the team in their achievements and overall business objectives

•            The post holder will act as a referral point to internal colleagues providing technical guidance and advice in line with licence

•            Enhance the ability of the team to perform through contribution to structured training plans, undertaking QA/QC and providing regular coaching and feedback to the team

•            Provide technical advice and guidance to external clients

•            Supporting the team to provide oversight of PLF in respect of any litigated or outsourced claims to ensure the case strategy is appropriate and in line with agreed best practise

•            Contribute to projects

•            Strengthen Client Relationships

•            Represent Pro in a Professional manner to both peer and potential marketplace acquaintances 

Skills and experience required

•            A minimum of 2 years’ experience in complex EL/PL claims with a highly developed understanding of legal concepts such as Duty, Breach, Causation and Limitation, Quantum and Apportionment.

•            Ability to work towards Service Level Agreements.

•            Effective communication and key stakeholder relationship management skills.

•            Knowledge of claims handling and impacting legislation in respect of disease and illness claims.

•            Claims Handling Authority/Licence appropriate to the work type.

•            Adaptable to change.

•            Strong relationship building skills and a professional and approachable manner.

•            Coaching/Mentoring skills.

•            Experience in historical abuse and/or care claims is a distinct advantage.
