To achieve this, the post holder will be expected to work as a Business Partner to Clinicians and Managers both within and outside the Division. To assist, guide and lead where appropriate the operational and strategic plans and processes, which improve and enhance the overall profitability and productivity of the Trust.

Main duties of the job

To lead on all aspects of financial management of the Division to ensure financial viability and to work with Clinicians and Managers to assess and improve the profitability and productivity of the Clinical Business Units.

To work with Clinicians, Director of Operations and Divisional Medical Director to establish a strategic direction and financial strategy consistent with the overall Trust objectives and strategic direction.

To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Deputy Divisional Finance Managers including identifying training and development requirements in line with the Knowledge and Skills Framework requirements and ensuring that Personal Development Plans are in place.

Job responsibilities

To provide the Division with accurate profit statements and other ad-hoc information that will allow informed business decisions to be made and strategic direction to be set.

To provide accurate, timely and regular financial management information to the Associate Director of Financial Management as part of the monthly reporting cycle, linking activity and financial information.

Work with the Directors of Operations and Divisional Medical Director to identify reasons for variations in financial performance and identify actions to address the variation.

Work with the Divisions to identify cost reduction and efficiency programmes as part of the Trusts annual CIP requirement. To include monitoring progress and remedial action where necessary.

To lead and be responsible for reviewing cost-based management information for the Division to ensure that the cost of delivering the service is accurately reflected. To undertake benchmarking to enable comparison and evaluation when necessary.

To provide other financial information as required to the Corporate Finance function within agreed timescales and deadlines, ensuring a high-quality professional finance service is provided to users.

To act as a Business Partner to the Division, advising and leading on business strategy.

Contribute to the development of a growing and imaginative portfolio of business intelligence products which can be used to support decision making with regard to strategic service development opportunities.

To support Clinicians and Managers within the Division in having access to financial and non-financial business intelligence information through the development of increased levels of automation to develop the financial information analysis skills and expertise across the Division to support Clinicians and Divisional Chairs in using a consistent and "data-based" approach to business decision making.

Work with the Senior Managers and the Executive Team to create a dashboard of Business & Performance Information for Clinical Business Units to allow them to manage their business units in the most effective manner.

Ensure that financial information produced meets the individual and changing needs of its recipients.
