We are looking for a brilliant Principal CAD Designer to join our team in London Global Project Centre office on permanent basis.

 What will you be doing?

Prepare design/fabrication drawings of steel structures and piping using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software. Under broad direction assign, oversee, check and approve the work of a team on a project or in the Drawing Office. Provide focal point for all project communication and activities and ensure the delivery of quality work and services in line with project plans. Identify and communicate project resource requirements to the Deputy Discipline Manager or Discipline Manager. Assess project resource requests and provide feedback on feasibility in terms of deliverables and timescales given resources available. Evaluate, structure, and arrange tasks for oneself and the team. Participate in technical audits of projects and studies. Assist Fabrication as required in the resolution of construction difficulties relating to design problems, clashes, etc. Provide hours estimations for project drafting team when required. Interface with project discipline leads to ensure CAD deliverable schedule is being met and budget is on track. Ensure project team comply with company QA and HSE procedures. Responsible for ensuring that design services comply with company standards and processes in line with appropriate legislation. Support internal and external Drawing Office project interfaces. Actively participate in relevant training and development to pursue continuing professional development. Actively help to guide, train, and develop more junior personnel. Participate in reviews and development of departmental procedures and work methods.

Essential Experience, Skills And Knowledge

A minimum of HNC (Level 4) qualification in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or equivalent. Advanced experience in the use of Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks. Proficient in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD. Relevant previous design and drafting experience in producing subsea structural fabrication within the Marine and or Oil and Gas industry, including work at Lead/Senior level. Ability to assign, oversee, check, and approve the work of a team on a project or in the department. Ability to prioritize own workload and manage time accordingly to meet time/budget constraints. Produces work of presentable quality. Well versed in industry codes, standards, and design guidelines. Good working knowledge of other non-technical software e.g. MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Sound communication skills in English, both verbally and written.

Desirable Experience, Skills And Knowledge

Experience in design/drafting of subsea steel structures including piping. Experience working with offshore field layouts, approach drawings, alignment sheets and general subsea field development. Experience working on offshore installation operations method drawings (deck layouts, rigging drawings, installation storyboards). Experience with Autodesk Vault for data (drawings/models) management. Experience in Autodesk Inventor iLogic Experience in the use of Autodesk Civil3D.
