Job Title: Principal CAD Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal CAD Designer to join our team in London Global Project Centre office on a permanent basis.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing design/fabrication drawings of steel structures and piping using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software. They will also oversee, check, and approve the work of a team on a project or in the Drawing Office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare design/fabrication drawings of steel structures and piping using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software.
  • Oversee, check, and approve the work of a team on a project or in the Drawing Office.
  • Provide focal point for all project communication and activities and ensure the delivery of quality work and services in line with project plans.
  • Identify and communicate project resource requirements to the Deputy Discipline Manager or Discipline Manager.
  • Assess project resource requests and provide feedback on feasibility in terms of deliverables and timescales given resources available.
  • Evaluate, structure, and arrange tasks for oneself and the team.
  • Participate in technical audits of projects and studies.
  • Assist Fabrication as required in the resolution of construction difficulties relating to design problems, clashes, etc.
  • Provide hours estimations for project drafting team when required.
  • Interface with project discipline leads to ensure CAD deliverable schedule is being met and budget is on track.
  • Ensure project team comply with company QA and HSE procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring that design services comply with company standards and processes in line with appropriate legislation.
  • Support internal and external Drawing Office project interfaces.
  • Actively participate in relevant training and development to pursue continuing professional development.
  • Actively help to guide, train, and develop more junior personnel.
  • Participate in reviews and development of departmental procedures and work methods.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of HNC (Level 4) qualification in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Advanced experience in the use of Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks.
  • Proficient in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD.
  • Relevant previous design and drafting experience in producing subsea structural fabrication within the Marine and or Oil and Gas industry, including work at Lead/Senior level.
  • Ability to assign, oversee, check, and approve the work of a team on a project or in the department.
  • Ability to prioritize own workload and manage time accordingly to meet time/budget constraints.
  • Produces work of presentable quality.
  • Well versed in industry codes, standards, and design guidelines.
  • Good working knowledge of other non-technical software e.g. MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Sound communication skills in English, both verbally and written.
Desirable Experience, Skills And Knowledge:
  • Experience in design/drafting of subsea steel structures including piping.
  • Experience working with offshore field layouts, approach drawings, alignment sheets and general subsea field development.
  • Experience working on offshore installation operations method drawings (deck layouts, rigging drawings, installation storyboards).
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault for data (drawings/models) management.
  • Experience in Autodesk Inventor iLogic
  • Experience in the use of Autodesk Civil3D.
