Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal CAD Designer to join our team at Subsea 7, a global leader in the delivery of offshore projects and services for the energy industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain high-quality design and drafting standards for steel structures and piping using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software.
  • Lead and manage a team of CAD designers, providing guidance and oversight to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Collaborate with project discipline leads to ensure CAD deliverables are on track and budget is aligned.
  • Ensure project team compliance with company QA and HSE procedures.
  • Develop and implement departmental procedures and work methods.
  • Participate in technical audits of projects and studies.
  • Assist in the resolution of construction difficulties relating to design problems, clashes, etc.
  • Provide hours estimations for project drafting team when required.
Requirements
  • A minimum of HNC (Level 4) qualification in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Advanced experience in the use of Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks.
  • Proficient in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD.
  • Relevant previous design and drafting experience in producing subsea structural fabrication within the Marine and or Oil and Gas industry, including work at Lead/Senior level.
  • Ability to assign, oversee, check, and approve the work of a team on a project or in the department.
  • Ability to prioritize own workload and manage time accordingly to meet time/budget constraints.
  • Produces work of presentable quality.
  • Well-versed in industry codes, standards, and design guidelines.
  • Good working knowledge of other non-technical software e.g. MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Sound communication skills in English, both verbally and written.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in design/drafting of subsea steel structures including piping.
  • Experience working with offshore field layouts, approach drawings, alignment sheets and general subsea field development.
  • Experience working on offshore installation operations method drawings (deck layouts, rigging drawings, installation storyboards).
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault for data (drawings/models) management.
  • Experience in Autodesk Inventor iLogic.
  • Experience in the use of Autodesk Civil3D.
