Job summary

We are looking for a forward thinking, passionate individual with proven experience within Ageing and Complex Medicine suitable for a band 7 role to join our in-patient ACM Team here at Salford Care Organisation. The post holder will be covering a maternity leave. You will have the opportunity to work closely with occupational therapy colleagues whilst covering areas such as haematology, renal services, elderly care and complex medicine. You will enable the best possible outcomes for patients and drive discharge planning.

You will work beside established band 7 physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy team leads to provide Physiotherapy assessments & interventions, alongside supervising Band 5 and 6 therapists, therapy assistants and student members of the team.

As a valued member of the team you will be encouraged to be proactive in service development as well as contribute to data collection and audit in return the team and the wider Physiotherapy department will support your professional development

Contribution to weekend working and respiratory on-call is essential.

Main duties of the job

To take a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of Ageing and complex medical patients, who may have complex acute and/or chronic presentation.

To determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

To lead assessment, liaison, and decision-making processes on behalf of the MDT for patients referred to the service.

To undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard using specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience.

To plan, coordinate and evaluate the Physiotherapy Service in own work area provided in-patients on a day-to-day basis, and to cover for any other area with this specific caseload as necessary.

To supervise and teach more junior members of the team and students on placement.

Have an understanding of respiratory and neurological assessment and treatment skills

To be able to work across 7 days, contributing to weekend working and to the respiratory on-call rota.
