Are you looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for a Waking Night Support Worker to join our Supported Accommodation Services in Lancashire on a full time, permanent basis.

About the Service:

Barnardo's are proud to provide supported accommodation to young people aged 16-24 across a number of sites in Lancashire. The service aims to provide young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for independent living. The young people who live in our accommodation are from a range of backgrounds and are often either in care, in the process of Leaving Care or have experienced homelessness. Our services are staffed 24 hours a day by a dedicated team. Young people can live within our accommodation for up to 2 years so that they can move on successfully to their own accommodation in a planned and coordinated way.

Location:

2a High Street, Lancaster

This service provides 7 units of short-term accommodation-based housing and support to young people aged 16-25 who are vulnerable and unable to live independently in the community. This service also manages a shared 3-bedroom house in Lancaster where young people aged 18-25 live with visiting support from Barnardo's staff.

Working Pattern:

21:45pm – 8:15am (usually 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off however some flexibility may be required)

Our Service operates 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

Starting salary:

£23,920 per annum (More info regarding our pay and reward framework can be found below)

Essential Requirements to evidence in your written application:

Experience of working with Young People and/or vulnerable adults. Able to demonstrate a good understanding of safeguarding. IT literate with the ability to accurately record information. Most importantly, you will need to enjoy the challenges and rewards of working with young people

Some of the main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

To lone work and to be awake throughout the night on site To safeguard the young people within the service, including reporting and responding to safeguarding disclosures and accessing support from relevant services and/or managers and/or emergency services when necessary. To ensure all young people adhere to the House Code To develop positive and professional working relationships with the young people to achieve positive outcomes through listening and one to one conversations. To undertake general housekeeping and domestic tasks to maintain living standards. To complete a handover process with the incoming staff each morning that highlights any issues or incidents that occurred during the night.

The successful candidate will have a planned induction and will participate in training including Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Safeguarding, Emergency First Aid, Risk Assessment, Health & Safety.

There are always opportunities to develop your skills and get involved with different activities within the service. The successful candidate will be required to attend and participate in monthly supervision meetings with their line manager, an annual Performance & Development Review and be will be fully involved in our Team Meetings.
