Main duties of the job

The role will include undertaking the assessment of the young person's mental health needs, collaborative formulation and providing the treatment plan drawing on a variety of interventions that may involve multi-agency networking where necessary.

We have opportunities available to work a range of clinical areas including: 

Community CAMHS Mental Health Hospital Liaison Learning Disabilities Assertive Outreach Eating Disorders in our Eating Disorders Service

You will be offered in house training in a number of evidence-based interventions. There will also be the opportunity for further training based on individual learning needs. We have good professional support in our service and regular professional regional meetings, including regular team safeguarding supervision.

The main duties of the job are:

Comprehensive assessment of children and young people presenting to the service.  Shared formulation and care planning Multi agency working  Delivery and/or oversight of collaborative treatment plan using evidence-based interventions Collaborative risk management Support and supervision of colleagues Being part of the on-call rota covering out of hours contact from professionals.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We embody the importance of staff wellbeing in our practice, and this is why we are interested to get to know you as a person and hear what you would like from your job. We are open to conversations about flexible working and including some home working where appropriate to the role. 

We have a number of specialist clinics such as The Eating Disorder Service, Neurodevelopmental Clinic and Family Therapy clinic and we like to work with staff to help them gain experience and skills and to work in these clinical areas to give variety to their job role.

You will be supported by excellent team knowledge and experience on a formal/informal basis. Clinical and managerial supervision are augmented with profession specific supervision. We are investing heavily in training and preceptorships to develop staff skills. We have a thorough induction process, and you will be paired with other new starters as you begin to find your feet.

Relevant professional qualification e.g. registered Mental Health Nurse, registered Learning Disability Nurse, registered Occupational Therapist, registered Children’s Social Worker Current registration with relevant professional body – eg NMC, HCPC, GSW Evidence of continuous professional development

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of and commitment to working in a multi-agency setting working in partnership with a range of health, social care and education professionals. Relevant experience in a community setting / inpatient setting Experience of working with families, carers and significant others Experience of working with children and young people with a wide range of mental health needs. Ability to carry out assessments and psycho-social interventions

Experience of positive risk taking Experience of Recovery focused practice Experience of a range motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy and a psychological therapy (i.e. CBT/DBT

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Understanding of working with children and young people with a wide range of mental health needs. Knowledge of mental health and community care legislation and policy Knowledge of Safeguarding policy and procedures Knowledge of Recovery focused practice

Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers and relatives High standards of written communication skills with the ability to use email and internet. Risk assessment and management skills, particularly in relation to Safeguarding children and young people Able to manage a caseload, set priorities and work with members of a multi-disciplinary team All new starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process, aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
