Bristol, United Kingdom North Bristol NHS Trust Full time

Job summary

Fancy joining a friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary research team?

Interested in working in an innovative way and supporting teams at multiple NHS sites to deliver a study, recruiting women to have a new imaging test for breast cancer? We are striving to find breast cancers earlier and thereby to improve quality of life and outcomes for breast cancer patients.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Breastcare Research department.

The post holder will be working principally on the DYAMOND Study, a multi-centre diagnostic yield study funded by the NIHR Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation (EME) Programme.

As a member of the Central Research Team, the post holder will be expected to liaise with all sites to facilitate the smooth set up and running of the trial, in addition to local study coordination.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working principally on the DYAMOND Study. The study will test if an abbreviated form of breast MRI (a FAST-MRI) can detect cancers not seen on mammogram, in women with average density breasts. Across 6 centres in England, 1000 women will be invited for a FAST MRI which will be interpreted by trained Healthcare Professionals. If any cancers are found, the women will be looked after by their local hospital, and information about their care will be collected for the DYAMOND study.

As a member of the Central Research Team, the post holder will be expected to liaise with all sites to facilitate the smooth set up and running of the trial. This includes contributing to the development of training materials, database management, allocating and expediting scan interpretation sessions, and triaging any queries from sites and/or participants.

The role will also involve local study coordination which includes screening of patient databases, organising patient assessments in accordance with the study protocol, and liaising with PACS Team to ensure scans are transferred to the reading centre in a timely manner.
