The Cardiac Surgery Research Team are responsible for the set up and support of clinical trials within the speciality of cardiac surgery at the Bristol Heart Institute

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Trials Administrator to join our Research Delivery Team.

The post holder will act as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, with responsibility for providing project administrative and logistic support to the Cardiac Surgery Research Team. This post will require the post holder to use significant initiative in prioritisation, planning and organisation of this work. In particular, the appointed individual will be responsible for the day to day organisation and logistics for delivery of NIHR funded portfolio trials, preparing specimen sampling packs, coordination and collection of specimens from clinical areas, booking appointments and conducting remote and face to face follow up questionnaires and assessments. The post holder will maintain effective systems and procedures for the handling and transport of research specimens within the department. This will require some flexibility in working hours to ensure availability to attend the operating theatre on days where study patients are receiving their operation.

**The post holder will**:
Provide project specific administrative and logistic support to the Cardiac Surgery Research Team.

Implement and maintain effective systems and procedures for the handling and transport of research specimens within the department.

Contribute to delivery of project objectives by demonstrating a flexible approach and willingness to re-prioritize work as necessary, in response to a dynamic research environment.

Build a strong working relationship with a range of project team members including, research nurses, clinical trial coordinators, theatre staff and laboratory technicians.

Prepare relevant paperwork and packs required for accurate data collection on selected clinical trials in line with GCP.

Coordinating and completing specimen collections from the clinical areas and ensuring timely delivery to the labs or courier, for transportation to other sites.

Ensure study follow-up is maximised by contacting patients either face to face, via the phone, video link or in writing and conducting patient follow up questionnaires and assessments.

Accurately input data into trial databases.

To maintain office filing and archiving, in particular ensuring case report forms are completed in line with the protocol and GCP guidance.
