Job summary

You will:

Build and develop relationships with individuals and local community groups to explore the lived experience of people who use our services.

Be driven and committed to the continuous improvement of patient experience in community health services including the use of systems, processes and written reporting to review and analyse patient experience data, identifying outcomes and impact measures.

Build relationships to support community health teams and colleagues across the system in their co-production journey.

Main duties of the job

This post will play a key role working with the co-production team, support services, operational teams and senior management team to lead and embed the participation and co-production strategy in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Children's Health Services and across the wider trust.

The post holder will support universal and specialist children's services to build and maintain relationships with children, young people, parents, carers and the local community to amplify the voices of young people and their families within the design, improvement and delivery of community health services. The role will involve engagement with our diverse local population and direct contact with children, young people and families who use our services.

The post holder will use their excellent communication skills and pro-active approach to influence and strengthen co-production activity within quality improvement initiatives to support the improvement of health outcomes for young people. This will include working closely with Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Foundation Trust (CPFT) and alongside other partner organisations to identify and promote creative delivery of co-produced services.

Job responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Co-Production and Service User Involvement

1) Work with colleagues to understand and implement the principles of co-production.

2) Develop and build on existing relationships with children, young people, carers and members of the public, local organisations, third sector, faith organisations and other stakeholders in the health and social care economy such as Healthwatch, Parent carer Forums and Maternity Voices Partnership to support local Co-Production activity.

3) Build on areas of good practice to support coordinated co-production in planning, development, delivery and improvement of services across community health care.

4) Establish and increase opportunities for involvement of young people and their families in working together with services to improve outcomes for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Children and Young People.

5) Engage with young people and their families to support and facilitate the development and improvement of services to deliver an outstanding patient experience.

6) Monitor, review and report patient experience feedback and data collated via Family and Friends test (FFT) using the IQVIA programme on a monthly basis.

7) Influence and support operational teams to utilise themes collated via feedback mechanisms including Family and Friends Test (FFT) and the complaints process as a catalyst for quality improvement initiatives.

8) Provide education, training and guidance to colleagues on co-production and participation initiatives.

9) Work closely with the communications and transformation teams to maintain a high profile of co-production across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough

10) Support the strategic direction of the Trust to ensure services are compliant with local and national legislation for Patient and Public Involvement, including supporting with monitoring initiatives such as peer review and preparations for CQC inspections.

11) Collate, report and present evidence to demonstrate improvement in outcomes and the impact for families as a result of the involvement and engagement of children, young people and families.

Communication

1) Direct contact with people who use our services for the purpose of co-production and participation initiatives, for example facilitating focus groups, delivering training for involvement partners on recruitment panels, or co-ordinating and coaching people who use our services to be involved in project work or attend meetings.

2) Build and maintain relationships with representative groups, stakeholder organisations, and local Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises (VCSEs )to work collaboratively and efficiently, sharing best practice, insights and avoiding duplication.

3) Liaise and work closely with team leads across the services to improve communication with service users and partners agencies, including presenting to operational or senior management team meetings.

4) Provide regular communication cascade on co-production and service user involvement including providing regular written reports, case studies and verbal updates.

Budgetary Responsibility

1). Ensure that resources are optimised and used efficiently.

People Management

1) Maintain own professional development and take part in appraisal as per Trust policy.

2) Line manage or supervise junior team members including coaching and mentoring, facilitating 1 to 1s and appraisals.

3) Support the development of skills for staff and service users to improve their engagement in co-production.

Clinical and Practice Governance

1. Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.

2. Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, faxed, or transferred electronically must be undertaken with regard to the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies.

3. The post holder must adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes.

4. The post holder must adhere to infection control policies and procedures.

5. Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust.

6. The post holder must participate in clinical and safeguarding audits as required.

7. The post holder is required to participate in relevant emergency preparedness process for their team

Qualifications and Training

Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant field. Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

Community development training. Leadership development training. Project management or quality improvement training.

Experience

Essential

Experience and knowledge of the principles of co-production including knowledge on the national agenda. Previous NHS engagement experience / Evidence of experience of engagement of service users, people, families, the public, stakeholders. Experience of service development and managing change. / Experience leading change initiatives/ Proven experience of managing a project. Experience of collating, analysis and presentation of data (qualitative and quantitative) including written reports. Experience of facilitating training, chairing meetings and/or delivering presentations.

Desirable

Experience of working within a children's service. Experience of leading engagement programmes Experience and knowledge of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) agenda. Experience of leading or developing volunteer or peer support programmes. Experience of working with all ages of service users and their families

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

Knowledge of the legal framework underpinning patient and public involvement in the NHS. High level of organisational abilities and skills including ability to manage workload of self and others.
