NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. This is a fixed term post of 12 months.

The shift pattern for this position is 9 – 5, Mon – Fri.

The forensic AHP team have a vacancy for a physiotherapist to work across their medium and low secure wards as a temporary contract for 12 months. The Forensic Mental Health Physiotherapy service exists to deliver high quality care to patients and their carers. The key responsibilities of the service are to provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment to a diverse range of conditions and patients within the medium and low secure units. As a lone discipline of physiotherapist for the forensic directorate the post holder requires to be the physiotherapy voice for the patient group across a wide range of multi-disciplinary teams.

The post holder will have responsibility for a designated forensic clinical caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision. They will be required to perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme. A good knowledge of risk assessment and risk management and an understanding of mental health conditions and working in a forensic environment is required. A good knowledge, understanding and experience of MSK is required for working with this patient group.
