Family Support Worker
The Family Support Worker will provide support to Social Workers in their day to day duties and undertake direct work with children and families.

About the role
The Family Support Worker will work in close partnership with children and their families to assist social workers in undertaking assessments and investigations. They will undertake direct work with children, young people and their families which will include building family resilience, assisting with practical tasks and one to one work with children, including life story work. The Family Support Worker will:
Work in close partnership with stakeholders and agencies to ensure the needs of children are met.
Actively promote and encourage participation by children, young people and families. This will require following best practice around safeguarding, and following agreed policies and procedures when there are concerns that need to be acted upon, having particular regard for statutory guidance on safeguarding children.
Be required to maintain comprehensive records of all casework on the recording system to evidence good practice across the child’s journey and to support relevant inspection regimes that judge the effectiveness of outcomes for children and young people. This will include providing reports and evidence as required, including potential reports for the Court in relation to proceedings to safeguard children.

About you
You should have good interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to and engage with children, parents, carers and other professionals. Experience of delivering front line statutory interventions is an advantage, but not essential, and you should be willing to attend training and learn from other professionals too. You will be resilient, flexible and a good communicator and it would be helpful to have some knowledge of legislation applicable to this role e.g. Children Act 1989. You will also need:
A full and valid driving licence and access to own transport A good standard of written and spoken English To be able to address specific equality and/or diversity issues within your practice with service users and/or colleagues and take action to address these An ability to keep and maintain accurate records in a timely way An ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
