Job summary

There is a rare and exciting vacancy for a band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the community Learning Disability team in East Hampshire and Southampton based in Southampton and covering the East Hampshire and Southampton area.

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the established OT team who work within a dynamic and friendly multidisciplinary team (MDT) providing a health service to adults with a learning disability.

Key areas of OT work includes sensory integration approaches, meaningful engagement promotion, strategies for behaviour and emotional regulation, skills development and training/teaching of staff teams and carers.

Some of the assessments our OTs are trained in and/or utilise include: Active Support, Assessment of Motor and Processing Skills (AMPS), Sensory Assessments, MOHO ExpLOR, Pool Activity Level and Measure of Everyday Planning.

We are looking for someone who is familiar with MDT working and has some experience of supporting people with learning disabilities. They must have the ability to learn and develop skills within this varied and interesting role. It is essential to be highly motivated, reliable and be able to work flexibly.

Access to transport for business use is essential.

Main duties of the job

To manage a defined caseload, in a variety of community settings using evidence based/client centred principals to assess, plan, implement and

evaluate interventions.

To develop clinical skills and knowledge through participation in the Trust

Preceptorship programme and/or Band 5 peer support group.

Participate in the supervision of Occupational Therapy students.

Participate in the planning and development of services with support.

The assessments and interventions undertaken will be embedded within the framework of MDT principles of working, The holistic model of care (Trust Learning Disability 4 tier model) and The 7 areas of clinical practice
