Job summary

We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic senior nurse, with a strong work ethic and a solid clinical background in Chemotherapy and Haematology, to lead our well-established team on the Haematology & Oncology Ambulatory Day Unit for a one year Fixed Term Post.

The Team are an integral part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and work closely with medical colleagues, diagnostic services, inpatient and outpatient teams to provide a holistic and patient-centred service. The Team have strong links with Kent Oncology Centre to ensure a streamlined pathway of care for patients.

Main duties of the job

To manage the day to day running of the department, ensuring an effectiveand efficient nursing service within available ensure provision of high quality patient centred be responsible for the safe and effective running of the unit ensuringappropriate coordination of patients to maintain an effective flow through the unit.

Job responsibilities

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children).

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email if this is problematic)and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse (Adult) SACT Trained Educated to degree level or working towards Teaching Qualification

Desirable

Immediate Life Support Advanced Communication Skills Leadership or Management Training Evidence of continuing education at Master's level

Experience/Knowledge

Essential

experience in haematology or oncology IV drug therapy, IV cannulation & venepuncture skills Expert clinician SACT competent Knowledge and understanding of current issues in general nursing, acute nursing and the NHS

Skills

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written Excellent interpersonal skills Leadership skills Evidence of problem solving and decision making skills

Desirable

Recruitment and selection skills Involvement in standard setting and audit Interview skills Experience with managing a budget Computer/IT skills Desire to contribute to the implementation and further development of e-prescribing.
