Job summary

Nottinghamshire Healthcare are delighted to offer a position as Clinical Team Leader for our Specialist Palliative Care Services in Bassetlaw.

Based at Bassetlaw Hospice in Retford you will lead the clinical teams working across the service. This includes the day to day oversight for all clinical staff working within the inpatient unit and day services and overall responsibility for the safe running of the unit.

You will be a highly motivated professional, eager to take your next step as a senior leader. You will be passionate about palliative care and show the drive to develop our services to ensure they continue to meet the needs of our local population.

This position is open to all professional groups who can bring knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to this role. As such this post is being offered as a secondment or fixed term opportunity to give professionals the opportunity to try a different discipline and move forward their career in leadership

Main duties of the job

Working with direct support from the Head of Service, the successful candidate will take oversight of the day to day running of the hospice team including patient care, managing bed state, incidents, rosters and staff management, and audit and service improvement.

The role will work closely with the Clinical Team Leader at John Eastwood Hospice and benefit from the support of a Band 6 Ward Leader. The role will include deputising for the other Clinical Team Leader in her absence and supporting the Head of Service in duties as required.

The role will have visible clinical and management leadership responsibilities ensuring delivery of the Inpatient clinical services and in achieving all quality improvement and performance targets, including uptake of clinical supervision, mandatory training, PAD's and undertaking clinical audits.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, energy and enthusiasm and be eager to take the most from this opportunity.

Job description

Job responsibilities

In addition to the duties outlined above and in the job description, this role will also deliver:All aspects of human resource management including roster oversight, sickness, disciplinary and grievance procedures.

Be the first line of contact for GPs and Primary Care ensuring positive relationships are developed and concerns dealt with immediately within the primary care footprint.

Oversight of the day to day flow of the unit providing operational direction to the senior nursing team and medical staff.

The post holder will lead the vision for developing inpatient specialist palliative care services as the Hospice goes through a period of change and ongoing expansion of services.

To use evidence based practice and own skills and knowledge to introduce improvements and support staff training and development.

To undertake and critically analyse audits and provide management of incidents, clinical governance, staff development and assurance for the inpatient unit.

The post will also have a key role in maintaining the relationship between Notts Healthcare and the Hospice Charitable Trust and promoting opportunities to fundraise and support the charity.

The successful candidate will highly self motivated and able to motivate those around you. You will have a passion for palliative care and improving patient outcomes.

Professional Qualification (Mental Health/Learning Disabilities/General) to degree level or equivalent. Maintains current professional registration Further specialist knowledge/post registration experience in specific service area or other formal training.
