Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities

Ward Manager

Fairlie Healthcare Group is a leading provider of high-quality care which was established in 1999. We specialise in caring for adults with neurological conditions, as well as patients with tracheostomies, and who require ventilator support.

We currently have three homes, Fairlie House which is in West Norwood with 45 beds, Highfield House which is located in Purley with 45 beds and finally, Woodstown House in Banstead with 40 beds, which opened its doors to its first residents in April 2021. All three homes have achieved the highest rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we continually strive to maintain our Outstanding rating.

Duties & Responsibilities:

We are growing our training team and are now looking for a Ward Manager for Highfield House in Purley. The successful candidates must be individuals with the motivation and drive to improve patient care and demonstrate Fairlie Healthcares Core Values in their daily work.

To provide visible leadership to the nursing and care team to enable outstanding care to be delivered to our patients throughout the assigned floor and to foster effective relationships with Patients, their families and significant others and external professionals and visitors to the Centre.

Working as part of the MDT to ensure defined and assessed needs of patients on the assigned floor are met, in line with evidence based practice and defined in the Patients Care Plan and to effectively manage clinical risk.

To ensure care plans are kept up to date, reflect current care needs, are sufficiently personalised and are reviewed and updated in line with current Group and other legal requirements.

To supervise, mentor and support the Registered Nursing Staff, including annual appraisal to assist them to carry out their roles effectively. In conjunction with the Clinical Services Manager, ensure all care staff have a named/ nominated individual to undertake their supervision/ appraisal as necessary.

Ensuring the assigned floor operates within the regulatory framework and to support the Centre Director to achieve and maintain an outstanding rating with the Regulator during the inspection process and intelligence data provision.

What do I need to be successful?

Nursing Management, Critical Care Medicine, and Patient Care skills Experience in nursing and medicine Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Previous experience in A&E, ITU, HDU, CCU, Respiratory, or Complex Care settings. While RGN qualification is preferred, RMN or RNLD candidates may also be considered if they have experience in a similar setting. Experience with Ventilator and Tracheostomy Care Leadership experience, ideally with at least 2 years, including responsibilities such as coordinating rota's.
