Job overview

The Nurse Consultant will provide clinical, educational and research leadership with CAMHS in the specialist area of children and young people’s (CYP) with neurodevelopmental issues. The purpose of the role will be to

a) improve CYP and families experience of care and treatment,

b) provide a clinical expert resource including non-medical prescribing,

c) deliver contemporary and evidence based educational provision,

d) promote a positive learning environment for Registered and student nurses and inform and influence research activities in the area of neurodevelopment.

 The post holder will also promote and support clinical academic opportunities within education and research. This will be achieved by offering access to evidence based advice and information, professional support, clinical expertise and supervision, innovation and collaborative working.

• The post holder will also take on the roles of Operational Lead for the NDT and ADHD pathway lead


Whatever the setting, care will be provided to the highest standards of quality and safety, with the person at the centre of all decisions. There will be a focus on ensuring that people get back into their home or community environment as soon as appropriate, with minimal risk of re-admission.

The job plan for this post is comprised of 10 programmed activities (PA), over 5 working days. The post holder will be required to work flexibly outside core hours when service development requires this.

Essential criteria

•Registered General or Mental health nurse •Masters level with a commitment to work towards a research degree •Independent prescriber •Teaching qualification recognised by the NMC. •Advanced Nurse Practice

Experience

Essential criteria

Extensive experience in senior post at Band 8a or above Experience of providing student support within a practice learning environment. Experience of presenting clinical practice and research at a local /national Proven experience of managing staff and developing services relevant to CAMHS NDT The post holder will have experience of working across professional boundaries in a flexible, creative way, pertinent to CAMHS NDT. Extensive experience in ADHD assessments and treatment

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

•Extensive and expert knowledge and experience of health, nursing and psychosocial needs of CYP with neurodevelopmental issues, ADHD in particular. •Evidence of continuing professional and clinical development within the sphere of nursing and CAMHS NDT. •Excellent presentation skills •knowledge and practice of research process •Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills •Skilled leadership which would include negotiating and influencing skills •Extremely competent in all aspects of Information Technology •Evidence of national and international publications •Ability to work autonomously and make independent clinical judgements and decisions prioritising concurrent and competing issues •Ability to initiate evaluation strategies of services and developments
