Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our Speech and Language Therapy inpatient Stroke Service. ECCH Speech and Language Therapy are a small supportive team of very experienced therapists who provide both the acute inpatient service to the James Paget Hospital including regular SLT led videofluoroscopy clinics and the community outpatient service for a range of acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.

Following the announcementof a Agenda for Change pay award, this role will be eligible for a salaryincrease effective in October 2024 pay. Details of the new pay structure can befound on the NHS Employers website.

Main duties of the job

This post will be based on the James Paget University Hospital Stroke Unit, a 30 bed unit which provides hyper-acute, acute and inpatient Stroke rehabilitation. You will be supported by senior colleagues to provide inpatient assessment and rehabilitation for clients with communication and swallowing difficulties post Stroke and where appropriate, outliers on the acute wards You will liaise closely with our Early Supported Discharge Team SLT. A post graduate qualification in dysphagia whilst desirable is not essential as this can be offered when in post.

To make onward referrals when necessary
