We seek an experienced and motivated Pharmacy Technician Manager to lead and manage our technician clinical services team in a fast-paced hospital environment. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of excellence in pharmacy team leadership, a commitment to innovation, and the ability to inspire and manage a dedicated team of professionals

Working as part of our Technical Leadership Team across all our sites, the successful candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to lead, collaborate and inspire our technician teams.

The successful candidates will be expected to lead, develop, deliver, monitor and evaluate all aspects of clinical pharmacy technical services provided by the medicines management technicians (MMT) and assistant technical officers ATO

Main duties of the job

Lead, develop, deliver, monitor and evaluate all aspects of clinical pharmacy technical services provided by the medicines management technician (MMT) and assistant technical officers ATO including:

o Order in-patient medicineso Co-ordinate discharge prescriptionso Checks patient bedside medicine lockerso Assess patient's' own drugso Counsels patients on medicineso Takes drug historieso Dispenses at ward levelo Accuracy checks at ward level (and cover for the dispensary)

They will be responsible for shaping their strategic direction in consultation with the other Pharmacy Technical Services Leads.

In this role the postholder will line manage pharmacy technical and support staff, including workload allocation, performance, recruitment and selection of staff, career development and sickness absence will directly line manage:

o Technical Team Leader - Clinical Services: Medicine, Surgery and Emergency floor (band 6)

Job responsibilities

Leadership of the clinical pharmacy technical service delivered at ward level across sites at Royal Liverpool or Aintree sites. The MMT pharmacy technical service: Responsible for ensuring medication is delivered to the wards in an efficient and timely manner working in close collaboration with the Pharmacy Technical Services Lead for Dispensary Services. Lead on the development of appropriate systems/processes to encompass this with due regard for risk. Ensure the safe and appropriate use of pharmacy satellite dispensaries and pharmacy access only drug cupboards at ward level. Responsible for ensuring intelligent drug cupboards are managed appropriately. Responsible for ensuring all services provided by the ward based technical service team are in compliance with all relevant legislation, the Trust Medicines Management Policy and Trust standards of corporate governance. Responsible for ensuring any change to medicines storage arrangements are aligned with LUHFT agreed standards. Lead and manage all aspects of the clinical technical service at the Royal or Aintree sites and be responsible for the provision and extension of services.

Essential

NVQ LEVEL 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences / BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or Equivalent Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Accredited accuracy checker Management/ leadership training
