Weare an EMIS practice, with a growing patient list of currently ca. 10,700 patients.

About us
There is already one medical secretary who works 25 hours per week. This post is to work alongside this person.
Although for only 20 hours per week, we would seek to employ someone who can offer 5 days per week coverage.
Job description
Job responsibilities
Provide a timely,effective, and efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPsand health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters,reports, patient referrals, minutes, emails, in an accurate and quality manner,within mandated time frames.
To arrange appointments and liaise with relevantdepartments when requested to do so by the clinical team.
Act as a point of contact between patients, hospitals,and clinicians to ensure the appropriate information is given to patientsregarding referrals and/or appointments.
Assist with otherclerical and administrative duties as required.
Process requestsfor medical records and/or medical reports and assist with the completion ofmedical/insurance records.
File patientrecords and correspondence in patient medical records, pertinent to the role.
To process bothincoming and outgoing telephone calls, to facilitate timely and appropriatecommunications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriatequeries.
To maintain thecomputer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner.
To provide coverfor members of the secretarial and administrative team during periods of absence.
To receive anddispatch mail.

Experience
Essential
Medical Secretarial Experience Computer literate, use of Microsoft packages Experience in a GP Medical Secretarial role Audio or Touch typing skills Previous Administrative experience
Desirable
Experience in a healthcare setting
Qualifications
Essential
Good standard of general education (GCSE or O levels at Grade A-C), or equivalent Good standard of numeracy & literacy NVQ level three or RSA level three or equivalent

Ability to work without direct supervision Ability to work well in a team Ability to work well and remain calm under pressure
Skills and Knowledge

Typing skills (good typing speeds of 50 to 60 wpm or higher) Good communication Excellent customer service skills Understanding of medical terminology Ability to use own judgement and common sense to plan workload
