DescriptionReports to: Group Financial ControllerLocation: NottinghamWorking hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week To ensure contracts and terms agreed with suppliers, customers and other third parties are appropriately governed and meet the Group’s requirements. Using your experience as a commercial professional, you will apply contracting best practice to deliver value efficiently and innovatively – supporting teams across the business including in procurement, professional services, IT services and hardware and energy trading arrangements. A range of experience is preferred as the contracts can range from various supplier agreements, customer terms and conditions through to banking or commodity trading arrangements.  This role requires a proactive contract professional who can collaborate across the Group to support the Executive Management team, the MD’s of business units, and various heads of departments whilst ensuring compliance with contracting policies and delegated levels of authority. Passionate and motivated people are the power behind our growth so we’re looking to expand our team and you could be part of our success story.
What We Need from YüHere’s a taste of what you’ll be doing:
  • Maintaining the Group’s contract register, ensuring only approved and appropriate agreements are executed. 
  • Maintaining Group precedent agreements for deployment, such as NDA’s, Parent Company Guarantee’s or professional service contracts
  • Preparing summary notes of the key commercial terms of new or extended contracts, ensuring that key risks and opportunities and other key commercial terms are well understood by appropriate management and align to Group objectives.
  • Proactively support the Procurement Manager, senior leadership team and executive management team with ad-hoc contract queries
  • Provide first review of contractual terms, identifying key commercial aspects and, where appropriate, obtaining further advice from legal advisors 
  • Manage a panel of legal advisors, ensuring appropriate value is obtained. 
  • Maintain a register of any material contractual obligations, ensuring that they are owned in the organisation and that the Group’s position is protected.
  • Manage contract administration activities with appropriate signatories.
  • Support the creation of new contract agreements, where appropriate, either independently or with the support of third-party legal advisors.
  • Other ad-hoc work to support the Group’s contracting objectives.

  • Comprehensive experience in contract management, ensuring new contracts are fit for purpose and key terms are well understood by key stakeholders.
  • Able to interpret contract terms, identifying key areas for professional legal support whilst maintaining a view of commercial risks and opportunities under the agreement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; able to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Formed positive working relationship with colleagues, suppliers and other third parties.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills to drive optimum value add.
  • Experienced in reviewing and pulling out key terms of contracts and interpreting legal concepts.
  • Some legal drafting experience is preferred.
  • Energy supply or services experience is preferred.
