We’re recruiting for a Group ALM Manager to join us. We’re offering acompetitive base salary, great benefits and the opportunity to support work that directly contributes to L&G’s business strategy.

The Group ALM Team oversees the management of market risks across the L&G Group. In particular, the team advises on hedging and investment strategies and develops risk management frameworks to safeguard the Group’s strategic business plan against changes in market conditions and to support the Group’s longer term profitability.

The Group ALM Manager supports the Group ALM function, which is managed by the Head of Group ALM. The role involves a material amount of project based work.

What you'll be doing:

Working closely with the Business Units to understand their market risk exposures across SII, IFRS and liquidity; market risks include rates, inflation, FX, property, credit and equity. Developing risk management frameworks and embedding efficient investment and hedging actions within Group/divisional ALM activity. Recommending actions to the Head of Group ALM and senior stakeholders. Supporting the Head of Group ALM to ensure that key proposals and matters for discussion are brought to the Group ALCO, which is chaired by Group CFO and attended by key members of the senior management team. Supporting the development of Group ALM’s data and system capabilities. Working closely with the 2nd line Group Risk Team to ensure consistency of understanding and that all proposals have the appropriate level of challenge and oversight.

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

Qualified Actuary, Accountant or investment professional with equivalent experience Knowledge and understanding of:
- The elements of SII and IFRS that relate to ALM
- Liquidity risk management and implications for ALM
- Hedging instruments (e.g. interest rate and inflation derivatives) and strategies Strong programming capabilities (preferably in Python or R) Experience of:
- Working in insurance and/or investment functions within a complex financial services environment
- Managing IFRS and SII balance sheet risk Some experience of management and senior stakeholder communication is desirable
