Public Health Manager (Health Intelligence Analyst)

Grade: PO5

The Public Health department provides strategic, operational, analytical, and commissioning functions in pursuit of the improvement in health and wellbeing of the population and the reduction in health inequalities. The department has a joint commissioning function working with the NHS, and several other divisions covering the full range of public health and support functions. The department works in a fully collaborative way, with staff from across teams and divisions coming together around specific public health topics and strategies to work in a whole systems approach; and engaging with departments across the council and with wider partnerships to address the social, economic, environmental, commercial and cultural determinants of health and wellbeing.

This is an exciting new post within Public Health which will play a key role in our public health intelligence team. You will have a responsibility to support the development and delivery of the Royal Greenwich Addictions Harms strategy, and intelligence elements of the Rough sleeper drug and alcohol grant (RSDATG) in addition to the day to day support and delivery of the day to day public health intelligence function.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to work within a creative team to tackle challenges and solve problems to improve health. 

As the post-holder, you will take responsibility for the collection of Public Health specific information and the processing of data to ensure its quality and integrity, produce timely and accurate statistics and reports, lead on specific intelligence projects working with colleagues within and across the Council and with partner organisations, provide analytical support to the public health team to meet the intelligence needs of Royal Borough of Greenwich and partner organisations, and communicate information and intelligence through a variety of media to a variety of audiences including the public. 

You will have a keen interest in intelligence and an understanding of epidemiology and statistics, public health practice, health promotion, health economics and health care evaluation.
