Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Public Health Apprentice, we'll count on you to:

Assist experienced engineers in the design process in order to gain a detailed working knowledge of all parts of the industry. Assist Senior Engineers with detailed design tasks and drawing production. Develop an understanding of the different building materials and techniques employed in design. Carry out detailed design calculations and develop a full understanding of computer design packages. Maintain a Continuing Professional Development diary to assist in obtaining appropriate qualifications Develop an understanding of appropriate Legislation Standards, Building Regulations and Codes of Practice Learn and understand design techniques and develop awareness of other design disciplines Maintain a training Log on a daily basis, recording achievements and experience Attend relevant training as required by the practice. Attend Lunch time CPD’s and Knowledge Sharing sessions. Assist in maintaining QA systems on projects.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Willing to work towards a degree qualification.  Educated at ideally A-Level, equivalent and above. Able to qualify for the government apprenticeship criteria. Competency in MS Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint are desired. A commitment to a career in Public Health Design Engineering.  Be organised and comfortable juggling multiple work streams. Good administration skills with ability to multi-task. Ability to project a positive, welcoming and professional attitude at all times. Able to work as part as a team and collaboratively and co-operatively. Attention to detail, diligent at all times and a proactive attitude.  Good written and verbal communication skills. Be able to take direction and report progress on your work with others. Be driven and proactive with ability to work autonomously on occasion. A personable approach and a ‘can do’ attitude is essential.
