**Job summary**:
**The Immunisation Division is responsible for the national surveillance of most vaccine preventable infections and in providing technical support and clinical expertise to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and to the NHS in planning and delivering the national immunisation programmes. These programmes provide around 22 million vaccines per year, across the whole life course, and delivered in a range of NHS settings. The programmes are supported by a large portfolio of professional and public publication**

**materials and by web-based content on UKHSA and on the NHS websites. Annual tracking of parental attitudes to vaccination is used to inform the development of public facing publications. The department also provides secretariat to the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation who recommend any changes to the national immunisation programme and publish “Immunisation Against Infectious Disease” - the single authoritative source of immunisation advice for health professionals and the UKHSA site that consistently receives the highest number of web-hits.**

**Location**

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers hybrid working - this means that whilst the role will be based in Colindale, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home.

The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.

**Job description**:
**As the Publication Officer your main responsibilities will include**:
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

- To carry out editing on various public facing materials which form part of the Covid-19 vaccination programme.
- To liaise with scientist and medics to take on board their changes and ensure material is scientifically and factually accurate.
- To ensure materials are correctly and appropriately branded.
- To ensure all materials are written in house style and in plain English.
- Responsible for publishing new resources online to the Gov.uk site
- To follow the procedures and guidelines of the publications team when placing content on Gov.uk

Stakeholder management
- To work with colleagues in UKHSA. The Department of Health and Social Care and NHS E to understand the delivery imperatives underpinning the Covid-19 vaccination programme
- To build and maintain constructive relationships and to collaborate with external stakeholders and partners on the delivery of materials to support the Covid-19 vaccination campaign
- To help reduce inequalities of care though the provision of appropriately targeted resources across a range of communities and groups
- To liaise with printers, typesetters and designers over the leaflet production process
- To respond to and process requests for orders of leaflets and public facing materials
- To collate and respond to all user feedback and complaints about UKHSA material, ensuring rapid correction of any errors and development of additional content
- To assure the accessibility of the UKHSA public-facing Covid-19 information and, in the process, enhance the UKHSA reputation for the provision of authoritative, impartial, expert, evidence-based advice and guidance
- Any other duties to support the Immunisations Publications Manager in the production and distribution of Covid-19 materials
