London, United Kingdom The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority Full time

IPSA is the independent body that regulates and administers the business costs and decides the pay and pensions of the 650 elected Members of Parliament and their staff in the UK. We were created by the Parliamentary Standards Act 2009, as the world’s firstindependent regulator of MPs’ financial remuneration.

IPSA is on a mission We want to enable MPs to do what really matters by providing an exemplary, seamless regulatory service. We have a compelling plan and we’re intent on transforming IPSA.Transparency lies at the heart of everything we do. We publish detailsof business costs claims made by MPs and their staff, as well as annual data about every MP’s spending and other aspects of their activity.

We are looking for a Publication Officer to work alongside the Publication Manager in a small yet impactful team. Our work is essential to IPSA’s role as a regulatory authority: through publication we provide assurance to the public that taxpayers’ moneyis well spent by MPs in support of their parliamentary duties.

**About the role**:
This role sits within IPSA’s policy and engagement function. The job of the Publication Officer is to enable the regular publication of MPs’ staffing and business costs and claims on our website. This is a vital role, as you will be checking each claim tomake sure that the information released adheres to data protection rules and does not risk compromising an MP’s security. You will be working at a junction between the policy and information governance functions, supporting both areas with expert knowledgeof IPSA’s data records and publication policy.

**Main responsibilities**:

- Extracting and formatting datasets
- Redacting claims in line with IPSA’s publication policy and data protection principles
- Ensuring the integrity and coherence of the data we publish over time
- Working with teams to improve data extraction, formatting, and publication processes
- Supporting the work of the Information Governance Team and the review of IPSA’s publication policy

**What we are looking for**:
You’ll have exceptional attention to detail and be obsessive about accurate data. You’ll be familiar with good data cleaning practices, and adept at formatting data and interpreting information from a range of sources, including financial information. Thismeans that you’ll need to have excellent IT skills, in particular in Excel, and be used to dealing with financial data reporting systems and datasets. You’ll be comfortable learning about new systems and how they can be used to improve our work. Work towardsstrict deadlines and manage your own workload effectively will come naturally to you, as will the ability to communicate well with people at all levels both inside and outside the organisation. Sensitivity to the political, social, and economic context isparamount and you’ll understand the impact of your decisions on our customers, and it’s likely that an interest in data protection issues will help you in this role.

You’ll be joining a diverse and knowledgeable bunch of people, passionate about making IPSA brilliant and so you’ll need to fit right in and help the organisation to grow, improve and change.

A full person specification is available on our website.

We’re committed to making IPSA a more diverse and inclusive organisation and we choose to recruit, retain, and develop people with a diverse mix of skills and experience. We are a high-performing organisation that values diversity and we live our valuesthrough all the work that we do. Our inclusive workplace environment welcomes people from all backgrounds and our ID, Green, Women’s and LGBTQIA+ networks signal our commitment to celebrating and promoting diversity, inclusion, and sustainability.

Our core values are Staying Connected, Seeing the Bigger Picture, Being Open, Doing the Right Thing and Making a Difference. If you share and live our values, then we would like to hear from you. We are a values-based organisation, and you can expect theseto feature throughout the recruitment process and beyond.

**How to apply**:
Our interview and onboarding processes are virtual. If you want to join our team you’ll need access to a secure WIFI network and a private space to work from. If you’re successful we will provide you with equipment for onboarding, training, and working fromhome.
