Job overview

This is a part time position, (18.75 hours per week) and is fixed term until 31st August 2025 to cover maternity leave. The post will be based in Morriston Hospital, Swansea but you will be required to support the paediatric dietetic service provision across the health board.

If you are a Swansea Bay University Health Board employee this post will only be offered on a secondment basis and you will need to have gained your line managers approval for the secondment prior to going to interview.

We are excited to offer the opportunity for someone with a passion for paediatric dietetics to join our team We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian with excellent communication skills. Our team have close working relationships with paediatricians, children's community nurses, health visitors, specialist nurses, paediatric speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work autonomously in providing a dietetic service to children and young people across Swansea Bay UHB, this will include enteral feeding, oral nutrition support, faltering growth, complex allergies, preterm term infants and other clinical conditions impacting on the young person’s nutritional status.

You will support the supervision and mentoring of junior members of staff, Placement 1, 2 and 3 student dietitians and support workers and assistant practitioners, delegating duties as necessary and providing the appropriate level of support at all times.

We offer both departmental and personal CPD time to support your development and share best practice. Our Department is committed to the development of evidenced based practice, research and clinical audit and you will be supported in attending relevant professional networking meetings, interest groups and CPD opportunities as well as having an annual appraisal.

We have good support from administrative staff and Dietetic Assistants. The Health Board has University status with Colleges of Medicine on site.

Essential criteria

BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent HCPC Registered Post registration training in relevant area

Desirable criteria

Student Clinical Educators Course Recognised management/ leadership qualification.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Evidence of a wide variety of clinical knowledge MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge +advanced post graduate training/experience in relevant areas.

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of working as a Specialist Dietitian in Nutrition and Dietetics within specialist area. Experience of specialist knowledge including Management of Common Paediatric disorders such as food allergy, faltering growth, enteral tube feeding and oral nutrition support Experience of supervising/mentoring staff. Experience of Audit and Quality Improvement Methodology.
