An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the growing team of over 30 Dietitians in the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 3 Dietetic Support Worker.
You will be joining a forward thinking department of dietitians, dietetic assistant practitioners and a dietetic support worker which is valued and respected throughout the Trust and crosses many specialties and care groups.
Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of and with the support of the registered dietitians, the successful candidate will be expected to:
Provide a high standard of health care by assisting in a range of individual and group treatment programmes (for which an agreed level of competency has been demonstrated under the direction of a registered Dietitian). Undertake a variety of delegated clinical tasks, to support the delivery of nutritional care in accordance with agreed guidance/care pathways. Undertake a variety of non-clinical tasks to support the Dietetic Service. To offer support to patients through effective communication. To work as part of a multidisciplinary team.To contribute to evidence based audit and projects to evaluate and improve patient care.

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
•A levels ( 3) or •Level 3 national certificate or •Level 3 diploma or •Senior Healthcare support worker apprenticeship or •Mathematics and English to Level 2: Functional Skills/GCSE Grade C •Proactively undertakes relevant specialist or departmental training in order to achieve required knowledge and competency for role.
Desirable criteria
•Care Certificate •Level 3 certificate in Health & Social Care •Up to date personal portfolio of learning •Evidence of transferable workplace training and competencies
Experience and Knowledge Required
Essential criteria
Practical knowledge of role, including good understanding of role applied for Experience of working as part of a team Practical awareness of issues affecting safety and risk Experience of managing allocated tasks independently within own competency
Desirable criteria
Experience presenting to groups Experience of working within a health care/social care or educational environment Experience of mentoring/supervising members of a team
Skills and Attributes
Essential criteria
Competent IT skills and the ability to use digital platforms and maintain business related information Ability to use a range of communication, negotiation and motivation skills using a variety of formats including verbal, written and virtual. Ability to problem solve, prioritise and escalate work related issues Able to learn from experiences and demonstrate change Ability to understand delegation, scope of role and to take responsibility for given caseload.
