ThePrecision Medicine function in the Translational Science departmentis looking for a Research Scientist within the Biomarker AssaySciences LBA group on a 12month contract commencing August2024.
The Precision Medicine function provides bioanalytical andbiomarker assay support for nonclinical and clinical phases of drugdevelopment aiding progression of our candidate molecules fromresearch into theclinic.


Thisrole is predominantly laboratorybased. It may be possible to workfrom home up to one day per week as workpermits.
The successful candidate will join the highly experienced andenergetic nonregulatory LBA biomarker team. Expect to be involvedin the development optimisation and validation of ligand bindingassays / immunoassays for biomarkers and gene therapy targets tosupport progression of novel drug candidates through various stagesof discovery and development. You will be encouraged to presentyour data at multidisciplinary project team meetings and tounderstand the underlying biology and therapeutic approach of theprogrammes you are supporting. Transfer of methods to externalpartners may also be expected (traveling for this purpose is notanticipated although in exceptional circumstances may be required).Laboratory equipment must be maintained to high standards and youmust remain compliant with all health and safety Human Tissue Act(HTA) and any other applicableregulations.

Requirements
Essentialskills education andexperience:
Candidates should have a BSc MSc or PhD in a biologicaldiscipline.
# years experience of working in a laboratoryenvironment
Proven experience running ligand binding assays/immunoassays (e.g.ELISA MSD ELLA Gyros Singulex Simoa/Quanterix) and/or demonstrableskills in development and validation of suchassays.
The ability to solve complex analyticalchallenges.
Excellent communicationskills.
Adaptable to changing project and organizationalpriorities.
The willingness to learn newskills.
Desirablebut notessential:
Experience in a bioanalytical laboratory in a biotech orpharmaceutical drug discovery and developmentenvironment.
Biomarker assay developmentexperience
Awareness of the principles of fitforpurpose assay validation tomeet a biomarker context of use within the drug discovery anddevelopmentenvironment.
Experience of method transfer (e.g. to external providerscollaborators).
Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams / externalpartners.
