Job Details

The Children Affected by Disability Team is a Fife Wide social work service that provides assessments and supports to children and their families to reduce the impact of disability. The team is based in Cowdenbeath, Fife. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified social worker to join our experienced and supportive team who assess and support the needs of Children Affected by Disability. We are looking for a team player who can work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary service and establish meaningful links within internal and external services.

You will be responsible for a range of assessments, including statutory, child protection, and Section 23 assessments. We are in the process of developing the team’s remit to provide a more dynamic and responsive service.

You will be member of the duty rota that operates during office hours providing an initial response to queries. This will involve signposting families to resources, and attending meetings on the teams behalf.

You will understand that many of our children and young people require lifelong support and share our passion to ensure good outcomes for young people as they transition into adulthood.

You will have a creative and flexible approach to promoting the needs of children who face the barriers of communication, health and social disadvantage, keeping children and young people at the centre of planning.

The Person

Social Workers must be qualified with a BA (Hons)/MSc in Social Work prior to applying.

You will be required to register with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up employment in this role and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning CPL (continued professional learning) over the first registration period.

You will be required to travel throughout Fife.

As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration. 

If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months. More details are included in the role profile

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
