The Community Minor Injury Units are based in Abingdon on Thames, Witney and Henley on Thames, their is also a First Aid Unit in Bicester. The MIUs see approximately 4000 patients across the service per month, making a real difference, providing care closer to home and avoiding admission to hospital wherever possible and appropriate.

We are recruiting across all Minor Injury Units to support and provide care in the community.

Main duties of the job

As an Emergency Practitioner, you will be a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with the desire to autonomously assess and treat patients presenting with Minor Injuries and Minor Illness either as walk ins or via 111. You will have excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills along with the ability to lead together with a passion to provide patient centred care.

The Minor Injury units are open 7 days a week, 365 days per year. We are happy to consider full or part time hours.

The GP OoH services runs when the GP surgeries are closed and manages referrals from 111. The role includes learning about telephone triage, supporting base visits and home visiting.

The role offers excellent opportunities in career development in injury and illness management at an Advanced level accredited through West London University. Study is based in Oxford.

You will be joining a multi-disciplinary team who pride themselves on their excellent team working and support of each other whilst treating a diverse range of conditions.

You will have excellent opportunities for learning and development with access to a wide range of courses to develop your clinical skills.

This role will provide you with a challenging but rewarding opportunity to utilise your skills and to deliver excellent care to a wide group of patients.

Essential

Registered General Nurse or Registered Paramedic Minor Injury Management Course or willingness to undertake. Minor Illness course or willingness to undertake. Independent prescribing course or PGD training course

Desirable

Mentor qualification ILS training Full manual driving licence

Professional Practice

Essential

Experience as a Band 5 equivalent in Emergency department, Acute setting, Urgent Care/GP practice setting or paramedic experience. Experience with mentoring students Competent in using Evidence Based Practice
