SLCN Support Assistant

Full-Time Position:  Monday to Friday (8.45am - 3.15pm)

Pay rate: £11.85 per hour.

If so, we have an exciting opportunity to join a prestigious primary school located in Preston as a SLCN Support Assistant from ASAP.

As an SLCN Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that children with communication challenges receive the necessary support to thrive academically and socially.

Position Overview:

As an SLCN Support Assistant, you will work collaboratively with a dedicated team of educators to provide targeted support to children across year groups within Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Your responsibilities will include:

-          Assisting children with SLCN in both one-on-one and small group settings.

-          Implementing intervention programs tailored to individual needs and learning goals.

-          Collaborating with teachers and therapists to create personalised strategies for improved communication skills.

-          Observing and monitoring children’s progress and reporting back to the SENCO and relevant staff.

-          Encouraging and promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment for all children.

-          Engaging in continuous professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in SLCN support.

Requirements:

-          Experience or qualifications in supporting children with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) is desirable.

-          Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, staff, and parents.

-          Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children overcome communication barriers.

-          Ability to adapt and implement strategies to cater to the diverse needs of children.

-          A proactive and collaborative approach to working as part of a team.

-          Enhanced DBS check (we can assist with this if needed).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
