An exciting opportunity has arisen at EKC Group for a Programme Director (aka Course Leaders) of Art and Design. This is predominantly a teaching role, with the expectation to support development of the curriculum area and develop a centre of excellence. Teaching, supporting and assessing students coursework.

Programme Director responsibilities will be available for the right candidate. Applicants wishing to be considered for this role must be teacher qualified with at least one years teaching experience post achievement of the teaching qualification. Without these skills candidates may not be considered for this role.

As a Programme Director at EKC group you will plan a highly relevant and distinctive curriculum to meet the local/regional skills requirements, and the needs of the student, in liaison with the Department leadership team to support outstanding progression for students. Your role responsibilities will also include leading and coordinating the delivery team so all students receive up-to-date course information through precourse/programme events and start of course/programme activities to facilitate student understanding of the objectives of the course/programme, assessment schedules and requirements in line with awarding body criteria, including the course/programme handbook.

About You

We are looking for a unique and dynamic candidate to be Programme Director for three days a week to manage and inspire the UAL Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and our Higher Education provisions. 2024 sees the first year of the delivery of our Foundation Degree in Professional Business Practice, a course designed and created in the Visual Arts department with the University of Kent as an awarding body.

You will foster business skills in our students so they may go on to worthwhile employment in the Visual Art industries post study. The successful candidate will have a unique understanding of both FE and HE provider requirements. You will have worked in the Visual Arts industries in any of its community and corporate applications and be passionate about bringing knowledge, skills and contacts into our thriving department to further motivate our students.

You will be familiar with the local Visual Arts industry and be able to lead a team in the delivery of this bespoke art and business course. You will also be conversant with Foundation Diplomas in Art and Design and work productively and positively within a department having a varied suite of engaging programmes for almost any level of creative learner

You will be highly organised, creative and be able to plan and teach engaging and innovative lessons with demonstrated interpersonal skills. Assessing and tracking student progress, to further plan intervention this will be a vital part of the role and ensuring all students develop the skills they need to succeed.

You will be passionate about making a difference to the future careers of our students, providing academic leadership and guidance in this area and managing the curriculum delivery and accreditation. Teaching and vocational experience is essential and strong leadership skills are desirable.

This is the ideal opportunity for a proven teacher or lecturer to progress their career to the next stage as you will oversee the curriculum provision from the beginning, building relationships with key stakeholders as well as delivering high quality teaching, learning and assessment. It will be a requirement to have two years of teaching experience and qualified teacher status for this position. Please note that there are two salary scale points for our Programme Director positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Employees can move up the salary scale once you have worked as a Programme Director for our group for one entire academic year, subject to approval. Therefore, internal applicants may qualify for the higher salary scale, although should seek clarification.
