Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for those who wish to undertake training in Advance Clinical Practice with a view to developing into the role of Advanced Clinical Practitioner within the core CAMHS teams.

The MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Programme takes 3 years to complete. On successful completion of this programme, you will be a recognised Advanced Clinical Practitioner with an expert knowledge base, complex decision-making skills and clinical competencies for an expanded autonomous scope of practice, the characteristics of which are shaped by the context in which you practice.

The role of Advanced Clinical Practitioner requires the delivery of advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in the delivery of clinical care. Initially, you will be employed as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Band 7) and upon completion of your training you will take on the role of Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Band 8a). A competitive selection process will therefore be required.

There are a number of funding routes available, which include an apprenticeship route or the MSc Programme.

Main duties of the job

The minimum entry requirements are:

Degree in Nursing Registered Mental Health or Learning Disabilities Nurse Evidence of professional updating Ability and willingness to undertake MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Substantial post qualification experience

Job description

Job responsibilities

As part of the Community CAMHS multi-professional team, the post holder will practice autonomously developing their knowledge and experience to deliver complex and high level assessment and diagnostic skills, including the use of invasive devices, such as intravenous cannulation, whilst being accountable and self-directed in line with the NMC code of professional conduct.

The post holder will have advanced communication skills in presenting with differential and un-differential diagnosis, decision-making and problem-solving skills for patients and work to improve outcomes. The post holder will examine, assess, diagnose and treat patients within the scope of their professional practice.

They will join a multi-professional team (MDT), working collaboratively, to provide initial assessment and ongoing care for patients with complex mental and physical health needs. This will include the responsibility for the daily management of a caseload of patients, in collaboration with the MDT.
