Job summary
We are looking for a qualified OTs at Band 6 level although consideration will be made for appropriately qualified clinicians from other disciplines ( physiotherapist with specialism in cognitive assessment or wheelchair equipment).
JOB PURPOSE
To deliver driving assessments that objectively measure the capability to drive safely. These assessments are suitable for those returning to driving, older people at licence renewal, those requiring clarification on adaptations and driving licence codes or if there is any concern around cognitive impairment.
Main duties of the job
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a new and exciting opportunity to support the development of a newly opened outreach service based in Hampshire. We are part of a network of 19 assessment centres across the United Kingdom specialising in outdoor mobility solutions. You will work alongside multi-disciplinary teams in client centred environments to apply your skills and knowledge to assess individual driver safety for full licence holders and identify learning potential for provisional licence holders. You will also advise on transfer solutions for accessing/egressing vehicles including wheelchair accessible vehicles.
Training will be completed at a mixture of venues our main site at Carshalton, plus established outreaches in Leatherhead and Worthing, plus the primary workplace at Southampton.
This role is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks which will include an Enhanced with children and adults barred list check by the DBS (at the cost of QEF if you are not already a member of The Update Service).

To assess clients for a range of services, including; Driving Ability objectively measuring the capability to drive safely. Car Adaptation advising on controls, seating and posture requirements and vehicle access. Driving from a wheelchair and wheelchair accessible vehicles. Hi-tech solutions for those requiring specialised controls. Vocational assessments for taxi drivers, bus drivers and lorry drivers. Transfer and seating needs for adults or children, trial of equipment and advice on seating and posture.Assist in the preparation and delivery of internal/external training courses for professionals and others, and participate in the delivery of in-service training for staff

Qualifications
Essential
Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy or Other clinical qualification Membership of NMC, HCPC or other regulatory body Membership of professional body BAOT/COT/ Driver with full driving licence Trained in MoCA, Rookwood, or other cognitive assessment toolkits

Experience in administering standardised assessments and clinical reasoning in choosing appropriate assessments Post qualification experience of working with clients with physical disability and neurological rehabilitation.
