Job summary

The post holder is responsible for the processing and recording of all Subject Access Requests (SAR's) for the Trust, legal or otherwise, this work is highly specific and must be dealt with in accordance with current legislation and Trust policy, in particular the Data Protection Act (DPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and within designated timescales.

The Team is based off site at Webbes Wharf Road and coordinates all subject access requests for University Hospitals of Derby and Burton(UHDB).

We recommend an informal visit prior to interview.

Main duties of the job

Responsible on a daily basis for dealing with all Subject Access Requests received for the Trust and responding within the designated timeframe. These can be from patients, solicitors/medico legal companies and other external agencies for health records. This includes copies of sensitive information from the Police and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board in connection with assaults, safeguarding and other serious issues.

Liaising with various organisations, including solicitors, patients, coroners the police and other agencies, the role is varied, and members of the team are responsible for their own cases from inception through to completion.

Person Specification

Essential

Essential

Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills GCSE grade C or above in English & Maths or equivalent Experience of handling customer-care complaints Knowledge of human anatomy/ medical terminology. Ability to make decisions in accordance with strict guidelines.

Desirable

Previous experience of working within the NHS preferably within health records environment Knowledge of consent and disclosure issues under the Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulation.
