Applications are invited for a post of Specialist Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry for the Wester Ross and Skye Community Mental Health Team. The post would suit a candidate with significant experience in General Adult Psychiatry who is committed to gaining CCT through the Portfolio Pathway/ CESR route. The post will be supervised by a substantive Consultant. Clinical Lead will work to refine the post depending on the needs of the candidate.


Applicants at Specialist Doctor level will have completed at least ten years clinical experience post registration and six years with the General Adult Psychiatry speciality.


This post offers the opportunity to be an integral part of the Wester Ross, Skye and Lochalsh Community Mental Health team and the wider General Adult Psychiatry Team across NHS Highland. The successful candidate will be encouraged to become an integral part of these teams both clinically, operationally and in the teaching and training of students and trainees. The CMHT provides a service to a population spread across a number of remote and rural communities that are well supported by colleagues in Primary care and Rural General Hospitals. Our existing capacity to deliver this service using digital technology opens up further opportunity and flexibility to the post holder particularly given the geography of the sector.


The post is based in the Mental Health and Learning Disability Service in the South and Mid Operational Unit but due to the geography covered by the post it would be possible for the post holder to live in any part of the sector itself or closer to Inverness. The post is offered as 8 Direct Clinical Care sessions and 2 Supporting Professional Activity sessions with the expectation that 1 of the SPA sessions will be utilised to progress toward the CESR through the Portfolio Pathway
