Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for three permanent mental health practitioners band 5 to work within the brand new 111 option 2 urgent mental health care team in Lincolnshire.

Band 4 development posts will also be considered.

The post is home based, however please be aware that there will be expectations to attend team meetings, training and if experiencing internet difficulties, you will need to get to your nearest base to login.

The helpline is a 24hr service including bank holidays and weekends. Shift patterns are long days, nights and twilight shifts.

Main duties of the job

This post is a key role within the 24/7 Mental Health First Response service and will be the first point of contact for people who may require urgent mental health support.

Mental Health Practitioners provide effective mental health support to people calling the service who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. This may include triage and risk assessments, and brief psychosocial interventions.

Working via telephone and video calls, Mental Health Practitioners will provide effective emotional support for people through the use of compassionate conversations and, when appropriate, encourage and guide effective self-management of emotional distress.

Mental Health Practitioners will be able to recognise when a person requires more support than is possible to be delivered over the phone, such as a crisis mental health assessment or ongoing support and be confident to make the necessary arrangements to facilitate this with an appropriate registrant, clinician, service or organisation.

Job responsibilities

Please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification for full details

Provide clinical support to the team based on knowledge and experience as and when needed.

Supporting the induction of new staff.

Attendance at team meetings and away days where necessary.

Completing audits as required (for example quality audits and examining data).

Support the implementation of service improvements & changes within the team setting.

Act as Practice Supervisor or Assessor (registered nurse) for student nurses in the team.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

RMN/ RNLD/Social Worker/Occupational Therapist with current registration. Or: Educated to degree level in mental health/social care or another relevant subject or equivalent experience within the mental health field of working. Or working toward the above

Desirable

Therapeutic interventions qualification.

Experience

Essential

Experience of working with people with mental health needs, including those with emotional wellbeing needs Good knowledge of universal and local services

Desirable

Experience of delivering therapeutic interventions Local knowledge of services. Experience in working with people who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Application of evidenced based psychological therapies relevant to the clinical service Experience of providing support to junior staff
